We encourage students to explore these clusters, and to use Junction City High School’s Plans of Studies in order to align their coursework with their career aspirations. While students may choose to change their post-secondary goals, the “Foundation Knowledge and Skills” are emphasized in all courses they take at JCHS, which will ensure success both in high school and beyond if students make the most of their educational opportunities.Office Number: 785-717-4209

Welcome to the Science, Engineering, and Technology Academy

The SET has four hundred students with its own office, dedicated administration, counseling support, and teaching staff. This alignment allows for a “school within a school” approach. The SET is dedicated to providing:

  • High Academic Expectations (Rigor): The SET academy will prepare students for college, technical school, or the work force. Our academies consist of career clusters that appeal to both the college bound or vocationally oriented student.
  • Relevant Opportunities: Within the SET: Within the SET our students will have the opportunity to do some career exploration and research. The academies coordinate with community business partners to provide authentic opportunities including: job shadowing, internships, and even industry-based certification.
  • Positive Relationships: The SET staff understands the importance of relationships and is dedicated to promoting positive relationships with parents, students, and the community. The academy approach provides unique opportunities for relationship building.

During the day, students have the opportunity to learn more about their field interest through a variety of ways:  field trips, speakers, interest surveys, and research.  SET students also have the opportunity to participate in job shadowing, internships, and career specific field experiences.
