The JCHS Drama Department emphasizes the mastery of 10 basic rudiments of the theatre:

memorization staying open spontaneity gestures "As-If" (accurate portrayal of reality)	concentration/focus articulation/diction projection blocking/business character
"Suspension of Disbelief"

These are taught hand in hand with the Kansas State Theatre Curricular Standards, and all combine to provide the student a solid base of theatre skills. Students who go completely through the program can rest assured that they are adequately prepared to move on to the next level if they so desire.
