Mr. Hagemeister has been teaching drama here at Junction City High School
(JCHS) since the Fall of 1990. Born and raised in Minnesota, he attended
Lincoln
High School, in Thief River Falls, MN for two years prior to moving to
Junction City his Junior year and graduating from JCHS in 1984. He
then went on to attend
Kansas State University, majoring in Secondary Speech/Theatre Education,
and graduating in 1989. In the time he has been teaching here, Mr.
Hagemeister has taught Intro. to Drama, Acting I and II, Stagecraft I and
II, Communications, Lifeskills/Communications, Sound Production, and TV
Production. As far as directing goes, Mr. Hagemeister has directed
18 major dramatic productions and co-directed 13 musicals, in addition to
building the sets for all 36 of the school's major productions during that
time period. He has entered pictures of several JCHS musical sets in Scenograpics'
(a set-design blueprint rental company out of Pennsylvania) nation-wide
set-building photo contest. Eight of them have won awards,
including a Third Place for
"Li'l Abner"(1995), Honorable Mention for
"Cinderella"(1996), a First Place for "Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"(1998), a Third
Place for the 2002 "Annie" set, a Third Place for the 2004 "Singin'
in the Rain" set, a First Place for the
2005 "Seussical" set, a Second Place for the 2006
"South Pacific" set,
and, most recently, a Third Place for the 2007 "42nd Street" set. Mr. Hagemeister has
directed well over 30 childrens theatre productions, numerous one-acts and
melodramas, in addition to performing in several community theatre
productions. Mr. Hagemeister is active in his church, is married and has a son in college and
a daughter in middle school.
