instead of 4.)
COLLEGE CREDIT FOR HIGH
SCHOOL FOREIGN LANGUAGE IS POSSIBLE!
It is possible in all state schools and in many schools around the nation to
receive college credit for what you learned in your high school language
classes. After 3-4 years of high school language, most students can test into
Level 2-3 in college and receive 3-9 additional semesters of credit upon
completion of one college semester. They call it retroactive credit for high
school learning. Check with the colleges you are considering. World languages
are the ONLY high school subjects that offer this opportunity – absolutely
free! It can save you money and time.
In addition, if you
anticipate attending a college or university, you are strongly encouraged to
take at least two years of the same language, especially if you are interested
in the following fields of study: theater, music, art, mass communication,
business, social work, education and any others that require a Bachelor of Arts
degree. Also, many scholarships require at least two years of the study of the
same language.
