SECTION VI: USD 475 INTERNET POLICY
USD 475 POLICY GUIDELINES
Students may be restricted from Internet access if their
parent/guardian signs the Internet exemption
form.
Any user having a history of problems with other computer
systems may be denied access.
USD 475 makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or
implied, for the service it is
providing.
USD 475 will not be responsible for any damages a user
suffers. This includes loss of data resulting
from delays, non-deliveries, or service interruption, user
errors or omissions. Use of any information
obtained via the Internet is at the users own risk. USD 475
specifically denies any responsibility for
the accuracy or quality of information obtained through online
services. All users need to consider
the source and validity of any information they obtain.

Vandalism is defined as any unauthorized access and/or
malicious attempt to harm or destroy data
of another user. This includes, but is not limited to, the
uploading or creating of computer viruses,
and/or physically damaging the computer equipment. Users will be
assessed the cost of damages
to the computer or computer application.
Users may encounter material that is controversial,
inappropriate or offensive. It is the users
responsibility not to initiate access to such material.
Material retrieved through network/Internet access is governed
through the same strict copyright
regulations as those governing print materials.
USD 475 firmly believes that the valuable information and
interaction available on this world-wide
network far outweigh the possibility that users may procure
material that is not consistent with the
educational goals of the district.
USE OF THE INTERNET
Students will be supervised at all times.
Students will only use software that is assigned by staff.
Students are expected to use school-appropriate conduct when
using the computer equipment or
network. Inappropriate conduct will result in the cancellation
of privileges. A cost will be assessed
for any damages to Computer equipment. All users must comply
with the USD 475 Acceptable
Use Policy (above).
All users will be expected to follow guidelines in using the
Internet. Inappropriate use will result in
the cancellation of privileges.
AII Internet use must support the educational objectives of
USD 475.
INAPPROPRIATE USE OF INTERNET
Offensive messages, pictures, e-mail and netware messages
Harassing, insulting or attacking others
Using the network for commercial or financial gain
Damaging computers, computer systems or computer networks
Vandalizing the data of another user or of other networks
Using anothers password, folders or files
Using copyrighted materials
Posting anonymous messages
Inappropriate websites(such as: Myspace.com; face book, but
not limited to)
